How will the ‘Chicago PD’ season finale change Erin Lindsay’s life? We look forward to the events of tonight’s Season 4, Episode 23.
Could the Chicago PD season finale also be the final episode for Detective Erin Lindsay?
But whatever happens in “Fork in the Road,” what we do know is that literally everything in Erin Lindsay’s life is going to come to a head at some point tonight.
The official photos for this episode reveal that the case of the week is connected, at least in part, to Lindsay’s dysfunctional mother Bunny Fletcher (recurring guest star Markie Post).

There’s also the fact that last week’s episode “Army of One” left off with Lindsay walking in to face a hearing board about her assaulting a pedophile.
It stands to reason that “Fork in the Road” will pick up immediately where that episode left off, with Lindsay having to justify her actions to the Chicago Police Department. And based on this episode’s teaser, which we’ve included below, she doesn’t look apologetic at all.
Let’s not forget that Lindsay was shaken up after having to shoot a teenage bank robber in “Fagin”, which was just two episodes ago.
And oh yeah, she still hasn’t sorted things out with ex-boyfriend and now ex-partner Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). We say “ex” because we also want to know if it’s going to come up on Chicago PD that Jay almost went out with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) in the season finale of Chicago Med. That doesn’t seem like something you even consider if you still believe you’re in a relationship, albeit separated.
But we digress—even if she keeps her job, Lindsay is a ticking time bomb.
Regardless of the outcome, this episode of Chicago PD needs to make some serious decisions about Lindsay’s future. She’s either a cop or she’s not. She’s either with Halstead or she’s not. She needs to settle things with her mother. And she needs to make some therapy appointments with Dr. Richardson pronto.
We wouldn’t be surprised at all if Chicago PD wants to end on a cliffhanger and has Lindsay leave the Intelligence Unit to keep the fans on edge. But she needs to wrap some things up, and the time to do that is right here and right now, especially since this episode is definitely the last one for showrunner and series co-creator Matt Olmstead—he’s leaving the show after Season 4.
