1. It’s time for it to happen already

Whether you’re a die-hard Brettonio shipper or have no opinion about their relationship, we can all agree that the storyline has gone in circles for awhile now. The back and forth of will they, won’t they and what are they this week has taken up more than enough time for both characters and for Chicago Fire season 6 as a whole—it’s time to move on.

This season we’ve seen a lot of Brett pining for Antonio, followed by the two of them having a one-time fling. The one-time thing turned into a two-time thing in “The Whole Point of Being Roommates.” Then in that same episode, Brett dumped Antonio again saying she didn’t want to “catch feelings” for him.

That didn’t stop them from hooking up in the car during “Hiding Not Seeking.” Then there was Brett’s subsequent pregnancy scare in the two-hour movie event only for her to find out that Antonio had agreed to a blind date with some other woman. So if you’re keeping score, Brettonio has been off, on, off, on and off again—just this season alone!

Four relationship changes in the same season is about two too many. If Fire is going to ask fans to care about the Brettonio ship, the show should pay off that investment by getting them together and keeping them together, instead of having the audience watch more back and forth than a tennis match. If they don’t get back together, then what has all this time been for?
