When is the Chicago Fire season 6 finale? With May being the last month of the 2017-2018 TV season, One Chicago fans may be wondering when the current season of Fire will come to an end.

The answer is sooner than you think. The Chicago Fire season finale airs on NBC in less than two weeks—on Thursday, May 10.

That’s about a week earlier than the season normally concludes. Last season’s finale “My Miracle” aired on May 16, 2017 and the season 4 ender “Superhero” was broadcast on May 17, 2016.

So what’s the difference this year?

Well, this year Chicago Fire is rolling out a two-hour season finale as opposed to its traditional one-hour conclusion. That second hour has to come from somewhere, so in order for the season finale to be super-sized, NBC has to wrap up the sixth season a week early.

It’s up to you if you think that’s worth the trade-off or prefer the traditional schedule, but what we can tell you is that the back-to-back episodes will be full of events to leave One Chicago fans with food for thought going into a possible season 7 (as there’s no formal renewal yet).

The episodes are called “One For The Ages” and “The Grand Gesture” so clearly there are big things going on at Firehouse 51. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) will have an important decision to make, while we’ll also continue to see Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) ex-girlfriend Renee Royce (recurring guest star Sarah Shahi) around the house.
