For National Nurses Day, we’re celebrating Chicago Med’s Maggie Lockwood and April Sexton with three reasons why they’re the best nurses we could ask for.

Today is National Nurses Day, where nurses around the country get some well-deserved kudos for all their hard work. In keeping with the holiday, we’re spending today giving some extra love to our two nurses from Chicago Med!

Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) have both been with the show since its first season, and both of them provide important help and support to the doctors and patients at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. The surgeons may get most of the attention and the fanfare, but without the nurses the hospital would be a very different place.

Whether it’s stepping in to lend a hand on someone else’s case, or all the things they do on their own to keep things moving, Maggie and April have made many important contributions to what happens at Chicago Med and we expect they’ll make many more for seasons to come (hopefully!) This slideshow is our way of giving them the spotlight for a day, and recognizing that they’re great characters we appreciate having in our ED every week.

Click through the below slideshow for the reasons why we’re glad Maggie Lockwood and April Sexton work at Chicago Med, and make sure you thank the nurses in your life today for all that they do!
