Chicago Med’s Manstead proposal: Why Natalie should say yes (and no)
Yes: He clearly loves her
Marriage is about spending the rest of your life with the person you love, and there’s no doubt that Will is in love with Natalie in a way that would make a lot of women envious. He spent the entirety of Chicago Med‘s first two seasons pining over her, and his romantic streak got even bigger when they finally got together.
Will was there for Natalie throughout Chicago Med season 1 when she was in the last part of her pregnancy. In season 2, he got irrationally snarky with Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner) just because Jeff was dating Natalie. Will continued to gaze longingly at her—even when he was dating, and also living with, pathologist Dr. Nina Shore (Patti Murin). It was Will’s feelings for Natalie that caused Will and Nina to break up.
In Chicago Med season 3, there’s no question that Will’s affection for Natalie superceded his role as her de facto boss. He didn’t take her to task a few times when he should’ve, like when she had harsh words for a father in the middle of the hospital’s waiting room. And when she made a bad mistake that almost had her rung up on charges, Will took the fall for Natalie—insisting to Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) that it was his fault.
Will’s risked professional trouble and broken someone else’s heart for Natalie, and at every turn he’s shown that she’s the priority in his life. Natalie is never going to find someone as devoted to her as Will is; why wouldn’t you want to spend the rest of your life with a man who’s head over heels for you?
