One Chicago relationship health check: Which couples still exist?

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: ROCKY

Status update: Here’s another One Chicago ship that was a bit of a surprise, depending on how you look at it. April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) worked together a lot, but not every fan necessarily saw them as a couple until a newly single April shared a kiss with Ethan at the end of last season.

Skip ahead to the end of another One Chicago season, and Chexton are Chicago Med‘s most stable couple. Compared to Connor’s newfound promiscuity and Manstead’s arguing, April and Choi were seemingly chill—until “The Tipping Point” was also their breaking point.

With Choi’s wayward sister Emily (Arden Cho) hospitalized, April told Ethan that if he brought his sister home with them, she wouldn’t be there. So they’ve gone from living together, to potentially over depending on how that cliffhanger gets resolved next season.

That’s surprising for April, given that she’s advocated for her own wayward brother Noah to a fault, but then again you could also argue she rushed into a relationship with Ethan given that she was engaged to Tate until the second half of last season.

Still, considering that they managed to handle all their other disagreements in a relatively calm fashion—especially when compared to Manstead’s shouting matches and whatever you want to call Connor and Ava’s love-hate relationship—we think they ought to be able to work this out by the time Chicago Med season 4 starts. Since they haven’t yet, though, we’re classifying them as in trouble until we see otherwise.
