RELATIONSHIP STATUS: FAIR

Status update: The good news for One Chicago viewers is that Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) finally got together after two seasons of romantic will they, won’t they between them. The bad news is that it just seemed to make some of Manstead’s issues worse.

Chicago Med started off the season with an overabundance of cute Manstead moments, as if to reward all the fans who had been rooting for them to officially couple up since the show began. They went on dates. They spent time with her son Owen. They were making out in the back seat of her car. And then the writing took a hard right (like it has for several ships on this list) and, um, we don’t really know what’s going on with them anymore.

Natalie declared that she wanted a break after calling Will overprotective. The show had a very despondent Will get drunk at Molly’s and go home with Dr. Maya Frisch (Emma Duncan). Though he did not sleep with her, he still felt bad about it, especially when telling Natalie about it caused her to storm off on him a second time.

The two eventually reconciled, and Will impulsively decided to propose—with the same ring his brother Jay had been planning to give to his now ex-girlfriend Erin Lindsay. But the night he was planning on doing it, Natalie realized who Will had gone home with, which for some unexplained reason made her angry about that again.

Will’s solution to his girlfriend’s renewed ire? He didn’t try to work it out or give her some extra space; he decided to propose to her anyway. The One Chicago season ended before she gave him an answer, but you can check out our reasons why she should say yes—and no.

So they might be engaged or they could have broken up again. We’ll call it fair just because he’s ready to marry her, but she is still mad at him. Still, Chicago Med won’t ruin Manstead just after getting them together…or will it?
