Chicago Med’s Torrey DeVitto celebrates her birthday

Chicago Med star Torrey DeVitto is celebrating her birthday on Friday, so we’re celebrating her character Dr. Natalie Manning on her special day.

Happy birthday to Torrey DeVitto, who stars on Chicago Med as the tireless pediatric specialist Dr. Natalie Manning.

The past year has been an incredibly busy one for Natalie. There was the second half of Chicago Med season 2, in which she broke up with her boyfriend as she moved forward with both her life and career.

She took a sabbatical between seasons, then in Chicago Med season 3 she finally got together as a couple with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss)—even though their relationship wound up being a series of ups and downs.

And she left Will (not to mention One Chicago fans) on a cliffhanger: would she accept his marriage proposal and get married again?

There’s no denying that Dr. Natalie Manning has had a busy year, and that’s allowed us to see a lot of big moments for Torrey DeVitto.

Whether it’s the happy Natalie who was enjoying cute couple moments with Will, the infuriated Natalie who temporarily halted their relationship, or the dedicated Natalie who continued to go as far as she could to help patients, she had some huge scenes to play and didn’t miss a beat in any of them.

Her character has come a fairly long way from when we met her, both professionally and also on a personal level, and Torrey has done a wonderful job of taking Natalie on that journey of processing all the changes in her life while saving so many others.

Without Torrey DeVitto, Natalie’s passion for her work—the key trait that defines her—wouldn’t shine through the way it does. Her personality gives her character a spark, and we can’t wait to see where she goes next year now that Natalie has turned the page on several aspects of her life and has new choices in front of her.
