With Chicago Med season 3 now in the history books, it’s time for our annual look back at the season that was as we try to find the episodes from the season that impressed us the most.

That wasn’t an easy question to answer this season. For one, we had less episodes to choose from, since NBC‘s decision to move the show to its midseason schedule meant that we had three fewer installments than we did last season.

But for two, this was easily Chicago Med‘s most turbulent season. The season built on all of the major changes that were laid out at the end of last season, and it took the series in a bunch of new directions. Whether it was adding the show’s first new series regular in Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling), or developing new relationships, or some surprising plot twists—this season was a bit like a grand experiment.
