When does Chicago Fire season 7 premiere? NBC has officially announced when Firehouse 51 returns to TV screens this fall, and it’s going to be different this year.
The Chicago Fire season premiere is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
That’s an hour earlier and a day ahead compared to last season. Why the difference? The change is due to NBC’s new fall schedule that created an entire One Chicago block on Wednesday nights.
For Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and the rest of the firefighters, that’s the second new time slot NBC has given them in two seasons. Last spring, the network moved Fire from Tuesdays over to Thursdays.
That was because the network wanted to protect This Is Us, which is NBC’s biggest scripted hit, from being preempted for Thursday Night Football. Instead, Fire was nudged off the airwaves for a few weeks in favor of NFL coverage.
Rest assured, there will be no such problem this fall as Wednesday Night Football is not a real thing (yet).

The Chicago Fire season 7 premiere date is in line with when NBC has launched its fall schedule for last year, but not always when Severide and company return. Last season started on Sept. 28, and season 3 took its first bow on Sept. 23.
But season 5 didn’t debut until Oct. 11, and season 4 was held until Oct. 13. So at least things are happening in late September, and you won’t have to wait until October. Just don’t forget the show is on a new night and at a new time!
