Chicago Med season 3’s best moments, ranked
3. Connor breaks into Pathology
Chicago Med is the One Chicago show most likely to do something a little quirky with its storylines. Last season it was a panda; this season, it was a lockdown that prompted Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) to break into his own hospital.
The creativity is one of the things that’s endearing about Chicago Med overall; it’s fun but it’s not cheesy or feeling like the show is doing something weird just to be different. In the case of “Lock It Down” it was a perfectly reasonable idea that the hospital’s lockdown would make it very difficult for Connor to do his job.
It was also perfect for Connor Rhodes to be the one who was in that predicament. If anyone in the entire Chicago Med cast could be an action hero, it’s Colin Donnell (and Brian Tee, who did not get to break into anything). And sneaking into the hospital is just such a Connor Rhodes thing to do. He has been canonly proven to be a man who will do anything he has to for a patient. It’s compassion, maybe some pride, but he’s always at the limit.
The high point was Connor literally busting through the door into Pathology. While it would have been even funnier if the scene had gone as originally intended, the reaction of the pathologists and Connor’s reaction to their reaction was a brief but hilarious bit of comedy. It was pitch-perfect in just a few moments, and with very little dialogue.
In an episode that was very serious, this was a welcome bit of levity, and a reminder why we enjoy this show so much. It’s not all doom and gloom at the hospital.
