Chicago Med season 3’s best moments, ranked
1. Will and Natalie finally get together
The third season of Chicago Med had one of its biggest moments right out of the gate, when the season premiere “Speak Your Truth” included Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) finally confessing his feelings to Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto)—and finding out that she reciprocated them.
It was also the best moment of the season, for a number of reasons. Many fans had been waiting for this moment since the show’s very first episode. Whether you’re a Manstead shipper or not, it was always clear that they were going to become a couple; the show has never been subtle about their romantic intentions, from their previous kiss to how many longing looks Will has shot in her direction over the past two seasons.
So there’s the excitement (and somewhat relief) of Chicago Med finally delivering what it’s built upon for years. Then there’s what it means for the big picture of the show: without that “will they, won’t they” to work around, where will both of these characters go next? It opened up so many more story ideas.
And in retrospect, it’s even more memorable because we know this was pretty much the romantic high point for Manstead, before the second half of the season turned their budding relationship into several fights and a potentially ill-advised marriage proposal. This was a perfect moment, everything it should have been and that audiences wanted it to be.
