Chicago PD’s 5 best Kim Burgess moments
1. Catching her sister’s rapist
Perhaps the most kickass moment from Burgess came from Season 4 when we were finally introduced to her sister Nicole (guest star Jules Wilcox). Having been introduced to Burgess niece, Zoe (guest star Aimee Laurence) in Season 2 of Chicago Fire it was only a matter of time before we were introduced to her mother, but things didn’t quite go according to plan.
In Episode 19 of Season 4, Nicole goes out with a group of friends when she is drugged, sexually assaulted and left in the train station. Worried about her sister, Burgess pings her phone number and tracks her down, finally finding her battered and bruised with little to no memory about the previous night.
With her sister attacked, Burgess throws herself into trying to catch the man, or men, who did it. It wasn’t, however, going to be an easy task as the Intelligence Unit stumbles upon one of Nicole’s friends, someone who had been missing since the previous night.
Now, with lives at risk, Burgess teams up with Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) to bring the two suspects down. The two of them start their quest in a bar known as the suspect’s hangout, with the other members of Intelligence waiting to assist them with whatever they might need. After several of near-misses, the pair eventually come face to face with their suspect and lead the bar to go back to their apartment (Voight and the rest of the squad right behind them).
Despite being warned not to accept any drinks from the men, Burgess downs something known to be laced with a date-rape drug. Burgess then stumbles into one of the rooms, swiftly followed by one of the suspects who locks the door and attempts to rape her. With the rest of the Intelligence Unit rushing in to help, Burgess takes matters into her own hands and attacks the man, beating him within an inch of his life for what he did to her sister.
Burgess risked her own life, doing something completely insane in order to protect her sister. She showed what a true member of Intelligence is willing to do to those who hurt them or the people they love. Her persistence in catching the men shows that she is not someone to mess with.
