CBS released a new FBI season 1 trailer this week, while the latest Dick Wolf show has also hired a new showrunner after creative differences.

We’re learning more about Dick Wolf‘s new series FBI following CBS‘s presentation of the show during this week’s Television Critics Association press tour.

The network released a new teaser trailer for the crime drama while also confirming that its original executive producer and showrunner Craig Turk (The Good Wife) is no longer involved with the show.

FBI stars Missy Peregrym, who appeared on Wolf’s Law & Order: SVU, along with former Law & Order star Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki and Ebonee Noel.

It was originally pitched as a spinoff of SVU but wound up at CBS as a stand-alone show instead, making it Wolf’s first show for a network other than NBC in more than a decade. Watch the teaser below to see the latest footage from the series:

Aside from the teaser release, the other significant news is the change in showrunners. It wasn’t specified what exactly constituted the differences that led to Turk’s exit, but we do know who is taking over for him.

He’s been replaced at the top of FBI by Greg Plageman, who’s well known to CBS for his work on the popular drama Person of Interest (which starred Chicago Fire alum Sarah Shahi).

Making this even more intriguing to One Chicago viewers, NBC also hired Plageman this season to take over as the showrunner for Taken, one of the bubble shows it picked up, which lead to a lack of schedule space for Chicago Justice. Taken was almost entirely revamped and then cancelled.

Showrunners are the people who call the shots on every series, so any time a new showrunner comes aboard a series, it’s always worth keeping an eye on to see if they change the direction of the program. In the case of a new series like this one, fans may not notice much of a difference, as they won’t have much to compare it to.

But Dick Wolf shows are used to new showrunners. Both SVU and Chicago PD had new bosses this season, while Chicago Med had a similar situation to FBI, where the original showrunner was replaced before the series premiere. We’ll have to see what Plageman does when FBI season 1 hits the airwaves in September.
