NBC has unveiled the key art for Law and Order SVU season 20, which highlights the show’s milestone of reaching two decades on the air.

It’s that time of year where networks roll out their promotional artwork for their fall shows, and NBC has given audiences a look at the art it’ll be using for Law and Order SVU season 20.

The new graphic for Dick Wolf‘s longest-running series is white, which is much lighter than the dark colors used in last season’s promo graphics.

It’s no surprise that NBC is also using the fact that it’s the 20th season as the selling point in its artwork. “20 Years Strong” is this season’s tagline, that speaks more about the series itself than anything about or going on in the show.

But since not many shows can claim to have been on the air for two decades, that’s definitely an achievement that the network would want to trumpet—and perhaps use to get more viewers to check out the milestone season.

Take a look at the new graphic above, with the Law and Order SVU season 19 graphic below, and let us know which one you prefer and what your thoughts are on the art for season 20.

On face value, the graphic from last season would appear to have the edge—your eye is drawn more to it, because it’s a lot more colorful and thus pops off the page. The new art is much simpler and the white makes it blend into the white background that many websites and more than a few print sources have.

What’s interesting to note is that the positioning of the actors in the graphics is pretty much the same. The only difference is that the season 20 graphic has switched the places of Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino).

In fact, everyone appears to be wearing the same (or at least similar) outfits as they were last season—suggesting that this new artwork is actually the same photos from last season, just repositioned and edited onto a new template. While there’s room for more creativity here, NBC has created something that’s simple and straight to the point.
