Which One Chicago character will you miss the most? We’ve ranked the five Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med exits that have us the most upset.

Another One Chicago season is well behind us, and one constant within the franchise is that characters always leave. Every season, there are main or recurring cast members who don’t come back, and in so doing we have to say goodbye to characters that we’ve come to love.

Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD all had characters who left us by the end of the most recent season. But which losses are we the saddest about? Which ones will be the most impactful on the new season that’s about to start next month? We’re answering those questions by not only picking the five most important character departures, but also ranking them to decide which one is the most heartbreaking.

Characters can leave for a variety of reasons—the show can choose to write them out, the actor can become unavailable, or the star decides they want to move on other things. We’ve factored in those off-screen reasons, as well as the on-screen explanations for their exits, to pay tribute to the characters we’ll miss the most and figure out who leaves the biggest hole to fill.

NOTE: This ranking is specifically for characters who were written out this season, and only contains our top five picks. It will also contain specific spoilers for character exit stories.
