Where we left off

Connor was last seen leaving the hospital, with a decision to make about his future. The second season finale “The Tipping Point” revealed that he had been offered a position at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, after his work was key to separating two conjoined twins during a very high-profile surgery.

But would he take the job? Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) told him that she would if she were him, right after she accused him of orchestrating the entire situation to make himself look better. An understandably offended Connor drove off, leaving her standing there.

But while Connor Rhodes was once again a rock star when it mattered, he still had some issues to deal with. He had actually removed himself from the surgical team after second-guessing another decision, struggling with self-doubt before he came in to save the day.

Plus, his girlfriend Dr. Robin Charles (Mekia Cox) had left him, deciding to depart from Chicago after her recovery from the health scare she had in season two didn’t go as planned. Connor’s response to the breakup was a series of one-night stands, including one with Ava. Nothing like sleeping with the woman who’s trying to undercut your career to make your life better.
