Chicago PD season 6 character preview: Kevin Atwater
What will happen
Due to the lack of ongoing storylines, it’s hard to predict where Kevin Atwater will end up during Chicago PD season 6. He doesn’t have any professional obstacles to face, nor does he have any personal relationship to follow. That leaves his future wide open.
In the wake of Alvin Olinsky’s (Elias Koteas) murder and Voight nearly winding up facing charges of his own thanks to the vendetta of Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson), Intelligence is in desperate need of someone to stabilize the ship. Based on the events of last season’s finale “Homecoming”, it seems like that person will be Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda). Antonio certainly looked more than upset with Voight’s behavior in that last episode.
Atwater could be someone for Antonio to lean on. We’re not expecting to hear anything else about his family, since Chicago PD ignored them for the rest of season 5 except for a mention at the start of “Fallen.”
And we’re not expecting him to get a girlfriend, either—because the only options there are Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), whom he has hardly spent any time with, or introducing a new recurring character and the show has a rough track record with that (see: Camila Vega).
Without Chicago PD showing us any evidence otherwise, we’re thinking it will be more of the same ahead for Kevin Atwater.
