Chicago PD season 6 character preview: Hank Voight
What will happen
The reality of Chicago PD is that it was built around Hank Voight and six seasons later, Voight is still the main character. Not only is he the man in charge, but the show centers on him and the writing often reflects that. To an extent, you can’t blame the writers because Jason Beghe puts on such a great show week after week, but that focus limits what happens to the character.
If Voight faces any issues relating to the shooting from last season, they’ll most likely be limited to the season premiere. Remember how he busted Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) down to patrol and by the end of that same episode, Ruzek was back in Intelligence? It’ll be like that. Voight won’t be allowed to sit on the sidelines for long—not when he’s the show’s most prominent hero.
Chicago PD season 6 is also introducing another adversary for him. Anne Heche is joining the cast as Deputy Superintendent Katherine Langford, who outranks Voight and will also butt heads with him. But we’ve seen this story before; Hank Voight doesn’t get along with anyone above him in the chain of command.
And we’ve just seen this story before with Woods, who also outranked him and didn’t like him—but the two at least had backstory together. So expect more of the same when it comes to Hank Voight. He might take a few dings, but he never seems to suffer any lasting damage, and he’s got a new enemy who sounds a lot like the old frenemy.
