Chicago Fire season 7 character preview: Stella Kidd
What will happen
If you’re a Stella Kidd fan, or a Stellaride shipper, the new season of Chicago Fire should be right up your alley. Severide and Stella have gotten an enormous amount of screen time over the past two seasons, even when they weren’t officially a couple. Now that they are, the show has every reason to keep that going.
On top of that, the unresolved fate of Dawsey means that the show will be looking for a new ship to focus on, and Stellaride is the obvious choice. Romance is a significant part of each of the One Chicago shows, and Stella’s relationship is the biggest one that Derek Haas and company are able to write for (given that Dawson is no longer a series regular, so not on screen each week if we do ever see her again).
However, just because the couple will be front and center doesn’t mean the show won’t mess with them. It’s done that already by feeling the need to bring back Renee Royce (Sarah Shahi). So what will it be this season? Yet another person from Severide’s past to go with his mother, the memory of his dead ex-girlfriend, his other ex, and his old mentor?
Stella’s plotlines will likely focus heavily on her relationship, and find some way to make it more problematic. However, expect Stellaride to ultimately weather the storm and stick together, as it makes no sense to do anything else.
