Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) is the hospital’s no-nonsense administrator, who deals with everything on the show that isn’t handled by a doctor. If it involves a board meeting, a donor with a list of demands, or anything that does not include medicine, it’s a Goodwin storyline. She’s the boss, and everyone else has to fall in line.

Going into the fourth season, it’s no surprise that Goodwin’s tenure is hitting some bumps in the road. She’s spent three seasons protecting her doctors and nurses from everything around them, whether it’s shielding them from the business side of the hospital or trying to keep them out of trouble. But she can only defend them for so long, so is this the season where her luck runs out?
