Where we left off

The last season of Chicago Med for Sharon Goodwin wasn’t that much different from what she does on the show every season. Goodwin was once again tasked with keeping the hospital afloat by any means necessary.

She teamed with Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) to come up with a plan that would get more insured patients brought to the hospital, which eventually backfired. Goodwin fended off a lawsuit as a result of that, another one from the family of a Santa Claus who died at the beginning of the Christmas episode and a potential third legal action after Maggie performed a procedure that she wasn’t supposed to.

Goodwin’s personal life has never been a popular topic on Chicago Med, but her ex-husband Bert (guest star Greg Alan Williams) returned this season in a particularly somber story. Viewers were told that his current girlfriend Lyla had passed away, and Bert, unable to deal with her death, had tried to commit suicide.

Despite everything that had happened between them, Goodwin still felt responsible for Bert, and she made sure to firmly talk some sense into him. That’s because Sharon Goodwin is not just the boss, she’s a boss and she doesn’t take nonsense from anybody. Not even the hospital board, as it toyed with firing her before hiring a new Chief Operating Officer to “help” her…
