What will happen

Being the boss comes with certain challenges. Namely, Chicago Med generally keeps Goodwin in her office or a board meeting, unless she’s coming down to the emergency department to yell at someone. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to suggest that will significantly change in the season we’re about to see.

Especially with her main storyline being about running the hospital alongside Gwen, it’s a very safe bet that most of Goodwin’s scenes will be more of what we typically see from her. Whether it’ll be fighting with Gwen, being in a board meeting, or in her office addressing someone else’s problem, she’s not going to stray too far from the role that’s been carefully defined for her.

Expect that Gwen will be the typical businessperson who values financial success over patient care, and Goodwin will get into more trouble for (rightfully) opposing her and pointing out that a hospital is about more than its billables. Gwen will find some way to try and make Sharon’s life miserable.

However, by some point in Chicago Med season 4, the two will have to work together. That’s how these rivalries usually play out on TV, and in the end they do ultimately have a common goal: they want to get the hospital back on its feet. They’re just coming at it from two different angles. Wait for them to find a mutual adversary and get along, if only for a little while.
