Before Chicago PD season 6 begins on Sept. 26, we’re previewing the new season specifically for each main character. Where did they leave off last season, what ought to happen with them in the new season, and what is most likely going to happen next?

After being promoted upstairs during the fifth season, Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has now firmly established herself as a member of the Intelligence Unit. It’s hard to believe that this is the same character who was introduced as a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed (but still badass) patrol cop; she has definitely come a long way!

But there’s still a long way for Burgess to go. She may have gotten the promotion that she has wanted for years, but that doesn’t mean she’s completely adjusted to Intelligence. Her former partner Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) was just killed. And she has had her fair share of personal drama, too, from tough cases to her family being some of those cases. So what could be coming up next?
