Chicago PD season 6 character preview: Kim Burgess

What will happen

Expect to keep seeing more of Burgess in the new Chicago PD season, because as we just said on the previous slide, she is the most tenured female character within the Intelligence Unit. Burgess has more seniority on the team than Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Platt doesn’t count in the sense that she’s not part of the actual unit. So Burgess’s going to get more screen time, and that’s perfectly fine.

Burgess will continue to be tough as nails, and probably get more jaded along the way. That’s been the biggest difference in the last season and a half—the bubbly go-getter Kim Burgess is being a bit taken over by the cynical Kim Burgess. Which is also fine, as long as Chicago PD doesn’t make her totally jaded. It’s Burgess’s personality that makes her memorable.

Expect that Burzek will get a resolution early on in Chicago PD season 6. Whether it’s the one that fans want, well, that remains to be seen. It may even just be the first step toward some kind of a resolution. But there will be an answer of some kind, because that just has to happen. After last season’s one-night stand, the show has run out of material to tease fans with.

Plus, the One Chicago fandom in general has a romantic angle on every show, and Burzek is the only ship that still exists at this point. It’d be truly surprising if the writers don’t play into the fans’ wants, and do something significant with that relationship. After all, Burgess seems to have it all going on right now, and that doesn’t look likely to change in Chicago PD season 6.
