Chicago Fire season 7 character preview: Christopher Herrmann
What should happen
That last storyline left Christopher Herrmann in a pretty sad place going into Chicago Fire season 7. But having said that, unfortunately, that’s not the first time Herrmann has lost a colleague in the line of duty and it probably won’t be the last. He’s going to be working through those emotions and getting back on the job.
There’s still opportunity to explore those themes in the beginning of the season, though. We know that Colannino had a wife and children, so Herrmann could be staying in touch with his family, and maybe mentoring his son. Maybe the experience makes Herrmann want to spend more time with his family. Scenes with Herrmann, Cindy and the kids are always welcomed!
The best thing about Herrmann, though, is his ability to cut through the nonsense and get anyone around him to pay attention. That should be put to use in the seventh season. Brett will be tetchy about getting a new partner; Herrmann can help work out any difficulties in that partnership and if Brett has any nerves about stepping up as Paramedic in Charge.
We know that Herrmann has already given relationship advice to Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), and with Stella living in his house, we fully expect that there will be commentary about her dating Severide.
