Before Chicago Med season 4 begins on Sept. 26, we’re previewing the new season specifically for each main character. Where did they leave off last season, what ought to happen with them in the new season, and what is most likely going to happen next?

Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) is the newest addition to the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center staff. Introduced during the second season finale, she was promoted to become a main character in the third season—and as polarizing as she is within the hospital, that’s also how divided she has One Chicago fans as well. Some people have embraced her, while others still aren’t sold on whether or not she belongs.

That makes the upcoming season particularly interesting for her. How will Chicago Med season 4 treat her? Will Ava’s story change at all, based on the reception she’s received so far? How will the show continue to flesh her out? She’s the only main character who’s been added mid-show; all of the other characters were here in the first episode.
