Chicago Fire’s Warren Christie and Chicago PD’s Markie Post celebrate birthdays today so we’re celebrating the two One Chicago performers.

Not one, but two One Chicago actors have their birthdays on Sunday, so it’s time to wish a happy birthday to this pair of talented recurring guest stars.

Warren Christie recurred as Scott Rice, an old friend of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), on Chicago Fire.

He shares his birthday with Markie Post, who appeared in multiple episodes of Chicago PD in the role of Barbara “Bunny” Fletcher, the ne’er do well mother of Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush).

It doesn’t seem likely that we’ll see either one of them back in the One Chicago franchise. Although Christie was introduced as a potential series regular, he was written out of Chicago Fire and no one has mentioned Scott Rice since.

Meanwhile, with Erin Lindsay having left the Windy City for a new job in New York, there’s not a lot of reason for Bunny Fletcher to pop up and cause trouble again. As entertaining as scenes like this were:

Even though their arcs might have ended, it’s still worth taking today to appreciate what Markie Post and Warren Christie brought to the One Chicago franchise. They’re both very great actors and they were great additions to the universe.

Bunny Fletcher was a real headache of a character, but Markie Post chewed the scenery in each of her Chicago PD appearances. She was wonderful at pushing the buttons of both Lindsay and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). And even though she always brought drama, Post played Bunny so well that the audience never completely hated her.

Warren Christie, on the other hand, was one of the many firefighters with a connection that we’ve seen Chicago Fire cycle through Firehouse 51. Rice had plenty of speed bumps in his short time in the house, yet because of Christie’s charisma you also kind of wanted him to work it out. There’s a lot that went unexplored in his friendship with Severide.

Luckily, you can watch Christie on NBC at midseason as one of the stars of the new series The Village. Post recently appeared in the Lifetime holiday movie Four Christmases and a Wedding. So both are still out there in other roles, and well worth catching! Happy birthday to both of these One Chicago alums.
