When does Chicago Fire return? One Chicago fans are already asking when the franchise’s original drama will be back with new episodes, because they can’t wait to find out what happens next with that apartment fire.
There’s been some confusion about the show’s scheduling of recent, with NBC having pulled it off the air for two straight weeks for Thanksgiving and Christmas specials. It came back to drop that huge cliffhanger bomb, but when will audiences find out who started the fire? Not right away, as the series is taking its annual December hiatus, like most TV shows.
Chicago Fire season 7 returns in January, and it’s not right away either. NBC is skipping the first Wednesday of 2019 and won’t be airing a new episode until Wednesday, Jan. 9 in the regular time slot. Though there’s no official word, we’re going to guess that’s because of another holiday—the initial Wednesday of January is the day after New Year’s Eve.

So you have quite a few weeks to think about Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) realizing that his apartment has been set on fire.
