What’s happened so far

Chicago PD season 6 started out so promising for Antonio, and then turned into what can only be described as a complete dumpster fire.

After Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) was suspended by Deputy Superintendent Katherine Brennan, it was Antonio who served as the interim leader of the Intelligence Unit. His tenure didn’t go well; he wound up getting into a fistfight with Adam Ruzek that you can watch again by playing the video below. But that’s still a pretty big promotion, to get to run the team.

Unfortunately, the last few episodes basically ruined Antonio’s life. He developed an addiction to painkillers after taking them for a shoulder injury. The Chicago PD midseason finale “Descent” was all about the problems that resulted from that.

Not only was Antonio busted by Voight while trying to buy drugs on the street, not only did he have to shamefully admit his problem to the rest of the team, but his daughter Eva was kidnapped by a drug dealer. And as if all that wasn’t enough the show piled on by having Antonio accidentally kill Eva’s abductor, when he pushed the man through a window and Jason fell to his death.

When Chicago PD returns, Antonio will now be at the center of a cover-up. That’s a long way from the man who was being complimented for his principles at the end of the season premiere!
