What’s happened so far

Give Adam Ruzek some credit—he’s come a long way since this time last season. In fact, he may have demonstrated the most growth out of all the Chicago PD characters during season 6.

Ruzek went from having a really short fuse and ending up on his boss’s bad side during the fifth season to now having some of the most screen time this season. In the season premiere, he was the loudest advocate for Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), to the point where he physically fought with Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) over Antonio’s unwillingness to lie for Voight.

He had a feature episode that involved discovering his father “Disco Bob” Ruzek (Jack Coleman) had taken a side job working as security for a shady club owner, because Bob was nearly broke. Bob also was shot before the end of the episode, which further added to his son’s concerns.

Plus, after comforting Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) by buying her a drink, he had a one-night fling with her that quickly became more than that. The two have been together for six episodes now, and the Chicago PD midseason finale had Ruzek suggest that they should get an apartment and move in together.

So is Ruzek going from short-tempered pariah to one of the most stable cops in the Intelligence Unit? That’s what the back half of the season will reveal.
