FBI’s midseason premiere has been pushed back a week so that CBS can carry President Donald Trump’s previously announced national address.

Fans of FBI will have to wait an additional week to see the show’s next new episode. CBS has announced today that tonight’s midseason premiere has been pulled off the air, due to President Donald Trump’s planned speech to the country.

President Trump tweeted earlier this week that he wanted network TV airtime at 9 p.m. ET this evening to deliver a national address. That’s FBI‘s time slot, so some sort of change to this week’s episode was expected.

However, rather than delay the episode until after Trump’s speech or air it as scheduled in other time zones, CBS has decided to preempt the midseason premiere entirely.

Repeats of the sitcom The Neighborhood will fill the 9 p.m. hour instead. Viewers who get CBS’s East Coast feed will see The Neighborhood at 9:30 or whenever coverage of the Trump address is over. You can see the complete revised schedule here.

While this is disappointing news to Dick Wolf fans, it was largely to be expected. A Presidential address has always preempted programming, and even though Tuesday’s speech wasn’t a usual one like the State of the Union, there was little doubt that CBS was going to cover it.

The only surprise is that the network is pulling the episode entirely, instead of perhaps pushing it back or at least allowing viewers in unaffected time zones to watch it as scheduled. But the FBI midseason premiere will air next week instead.

In the meanwhile, fans can catch up with FBI season 1 episodes on the network’s digital platform CBS All Access, through CBS on Demand or on iTunes.
