Chicago PD season 6, episode 11 recap: Trust
Ruzek and Antonio’s return
As any Chicago PD fan could have predicted, Ruzek got chewed out for refusing to let Voight take the fall for Antonio’s crime. Voight confronted Ruzek in the locker room and made clear that “this is my unit.”
Things between Ruzek and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) seemed to have chilled out, too, as she turned down his offer of a post-fundraiser drink and told him she was going to go home. So it was clear that Upton didn’t move in with Ruzek either.
Antonio resurfaced, ready to go back to work. His return scene informed Chicago PD viewers that his daughter Eva was now seeing a therapist to recover from her kidnapping, and that he wanted to take the fall for his actions, but Voight said it was too late for that.
At least Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) offered Antonio a shoulder to lean on while they were waiting during a later stakeout. Burgess kept to her word shortly thereafter, when Antonio blamed himself for Atwater being shot. She pointed out he wasn’t the only person who hadn’t seen that shooter coming, which seemed to placate him.
Antonio and Burgess chased down Reggie Watt, a member of Andre Griffin’s crew who quickly gave up his location in exchange for his freedom. But Burgess was skeptical of Antonio, asking him if he had the bag of pills Reggie had been holding. She had to admit that right now, she didn’t trust him, and he reluctantly handed over the drugs.
Clearly, Antonio still has some recovery to do, and it was a bit frustrating that Chicago PD skipped entirely over his rehab without even mentioning how long he was gone. But what’ll happen when he and Ruzek talk for more than a few moments?
