What’s happening in this week’s episode of Law and Order SVU? Find out about the next episode with the SVU season 20, episode 14 synopsis and teaser.

There’s going to be some differences of opinion in the next Law & Order: SVU, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo they’ve released for it.

Thursday’s episode is called “Part 33,” and that’s almost certainly a courtroom reference, because this installment is more about what’s happening in court rather than outside of it. After a woman murders her abusive husband, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the rest of the Special Victims Unit team aren’t sure if they want to testify against the defendant. They spend every day looking at abuse cases, so it’s understandable that they’d be a bit skeptical.

But if it was really self-defense, why is she on trial? Is there something else that they don’t know? How will Peter Stone (Philip Winchester) react when the people he needs to make his case aren’t sure that they want to help? He’s not going to take that well, and Stone’s strong suit is being able to make his case, so let’s see how hard he pushes back.

Of course, Benson normally knows what’s going on and she’s the one leading the unit, so her opinion will carry a lot of weight. So will she change Stone’s mind or end up finding something that changes hers?

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"As Stone prosecutes the case of a woman who killed her abusive husband, Benson and her squad wrestle with the duty of testifying against her."
