Law and Order SVU ratings report: Week of February 7, 2019
How did this week’s Law and Order SVU season 20 episode do in the TV ratings? Here’s the Feb. 7 edition of the SVU Ratings Report.
With the 20th season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season continuing, it’s time for another look at the Dick Wolf series’ TV ratings with the SVU Ratings Report.
Thursday’s episode “Part 33” pulled in 4.15 million live viewers at 10 p.m. That ranked it seventh out of 15 broadcast TV programs on the evening, though that was the highest of any NBC show.
It had a 0.8 share amongst the adults 18-49 age group targeted by advertisers, which tied it for eighth place with its direct competition, SWAT on CBS.
Here’s where things get interesting. That means the show lost viewers week to week, as the Jan. 31 episode “A Tale of More Woe” brought in 4.59 million people live (-0.44, or 440,000).
But despite having less total viewers, the episode actually moved up in the overall ranking. It was ninth in overall audience last week (it stayed the same with adults 18-49) compared to seventh in this showing.
So how is that possible? That means audiences in general were smaller amongst the broadcast shows. That’s a nice perk for the show, but hopefully it can gain some steam in the rest of this season—because right now, NBC ranks third in both total viewers and the key demo on Thursday nights.

Special Victims Unit is still being beaten by SWAT (which had 5.69 million viewers), but it’s also still beating How To Get Away With Murder (which has faded to 2.58 million). It’s not time to panic but there’s also room for improvement, and a few more months to do so.
