The next FBI episode will give fans some insight into Maggie’s history, according to CBS‘s official description of the episode and the promo they’ve released for this week.

Tuesday’s installment “Exposed” is going to provide more backstory for Special Agent Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym) by way of the case of the week. In looking into a reporter’s murder, Maggie finds something that strikes a nerve—and becomes “desperate” to get answers about a trauma in her own past.

Audiences know that she lost her husband before the series started, so it’s the safe assumption that could be what the Dick Wolf show is going into. Or is there something else that hurt Maggie that viewers haven’t been told about yet? Either way, her character is going to be further fleshed out here, which is great since this is still the first season of FBI.

It’s all about telling viewers why they should follow these characters, and building a world beyond just closing cases. It’ll be fun to see what is learned, and how Maggie’s colleagues react to what is thrown her way, too.

"After an investigative journalist is murdered, the team uncovers information linking the suspect to past cases. The victim’s death also strikes a chord with Maggie, leaving her desperate for answers in regard to a traumatic event in her personal life."
