The next Law & Order: SVU episode is a follow-up to one of the more powerful episodes from last season, according to NBC‘s official description and the promo they’ve released for it.
Thursday’s episode is called “Facing Demons,” which likely reminds Dick Wolf fans of a season 19 episode called “Chasing Demons.” That episode involved former Special Victims Unit member Brian Cassidy (recurring guest star Dean Winters) wrecking a case and then turning into a prime suspect. Well, now that episode is getting a sequel, though how closely this one is tied to its predecessor is not clear.
In this episode, Cassidy returns to the picture when his former colleague and ex-girlfriend Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) asks him for help with a molestation case. The prior episode revealed that Cassidy had been a victim himself, so he obviously has experience in this both personally and professionally.
Which one, or both, applies here? There has to be a specific reason why Benson is looking for his help; the question will be if the story is more about Cassidy or if the case itself is tied to the one before.
