Chicago Fire season 7, episode 15 recap: What I Saw
Cruz exposes Suggs
Though Cruz was only working one shift at 66, it was an up and down experience. There was some bonding (including the reference to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which starred Chicago Med‘s own Brian Tee), but Cruz also spotted Suggs going into the engine to get the lockbox key and meeting with a strange car in the driveway. He was easily seen by Suggs, and had to walk off without his cell phone—leaving all the evidence behind.
In other news and subplots, everyone urged Stella to date Keith and move on from Severide…except for Severide, of course, who got suspicious as soon as he saw the other man at Molly’s. But Severide also had a heart-to-heart with Grissom about the death of his father. It was nice to see that Grissom hadn’t forgotten his relationship with Benny even though the one he had with Kelly had disintegrated.
And in cases of the week, the team had to rescue a man’s mistress after she climbed out a window to get away from his angry wife. But with her hands literally frozen to a pipe, Severide had to make creative use of coffee to free her. He was more furious that he was forced into having to make such a drastic decision, thanks to Cruz being absent and therefore not around to make sure the equipment was ready.
But “What I Saw” ended with an obviously nervous Cruz packing his bags to leave 66, as Chicago Fire also teased Severide saying something to his ex-girlfriend…but of course her new love interest was there to whisk her away on a road trip. Tension hit a high before action segued right into Chicago PD.
