Chicago Med’s April Sexton and Ethan Choi have circled each other all season, so should Chexton reunite or stay broken up in Chicago Med season 4?

Before the One Chicago franchise returns to finish out its season, we’re looking at where the ships and characters stand—including Chicago Med‘s Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta).

April and Choi have been broken up throughout Chicago Med season 4, having ended things off screen between seasons after she gave him an ultimatum to choose between her and his sister Emily. However, the season has also been clear that neither of them are over each other, as both have made moves toward a reunion.

So should Choi and April give things one more try before the season ends? Or did they break up for a good reason and they’re better off being a professional team than a personal one?

Click through this slideshow to see our arguments for both options, then cast your vote for what Chexton should do in the comments at the end.

Where they are now

The current Chexton story starts in the Chicago Med season 3 finale, when April told Choi that if his sister Emily came home with him, she was moving out. Choi obviously chose Emily, because season 4 did eventually make clear that he and April were no longer a couple.

However, the writers have also been quite clear about the fact that feelings still exist between the two of them. April spent a few scenes shooting longing looks in Choi’s direction, and during “The Poison Inside Us”, she risked her life by going into a contaminated ED to get what was needed to save him. More recently, April kissed Choi in the doctor’s lounge, despite knowing that he was in a relationship with someone else.

But that relationship is kaput now, for the second time. Chicago Med brought back Choi’s first love interest, Vicki Glass (recurring guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson), just to create a triangle. Choi and Vicki got back together, resulting in moments where April was either continuing to gaze in his direction or being rude to her out of jealousy.

Yet when Vicki asked Choi to meet her parents, he not only balked at the idea, but broke up with her too. Vicki was easily able to deduce that it was because of April—so she’s gotten her heart broken by the same guy twice, and the show has proven that April isn’t the only one still carrying a torch. So the question is what are these two going to do about it?
