Chicago Med’s Natalie Manning and Will Halstead have a lot of issues, so should Manstead get back together or break up for good in Chicago Med season 4?

Before the One Chicago franchise returns to finish out its season, we’re looking at where the ships and characters stand—including Chicago Med‘s Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

Natalie and Will aren’t currently together, since she gave him back his engagement ring. But they are still the show’s original ship, and a lot of fans are still hoping for the Manstead happy ending. After all, there’s a lot of history between them.

So should Will and Natalie get back together again before Chicago Med season 4 ends, or finally call time on their long-running romance and try to find love with other people?

Click through this slideshow to see our arguments for both options, then cast your vote for what Manstead should do in the comments at the end.

Where they are now

Natalie and Will have gone on another roller coaster ride from the end of Chicago Med season 3 through everything we’ve seen in season 4. They started off the season by getting engaged to be married—though it took Natalie a week to accept Will’s proposal, and let’s remember that he proposed just minutes after she was upset again about him getting romantic attention from Dr. Maya Frisch (recurring guest star Emma Duncan).

Their engagement was rocky from the start, and only got worse as the show came up with the plot to have Will undercover working to take down a local gangster. The story felt more like it was a subplot on Chicago PD as he kept lying to a mostly oblivious Natalie—and then was whisked into witness protection on what should’ve been their wedding day.

Will spent two months pretending to be someone else in Arizona before coming back and having yet more problems with his fiancee. He and Natalie disagreed over his owning a gun and over his inability to open up to her, while she grew closer to a patient’s father (guest star Ian Harding). His moods and her flirtation culminated in Natalie calling off their engagement.

She’s since been making out with Phillip, while Will just discovered his new neighbor is the FBI agent who handled his case (Anna Enger), leaving the door open for both of them to once again be seeing other people.
