Chicago Fire’s Severide and Stella: Should they stay or split?
Chicago Fire’s Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd have been on and off awhile, so should Stellaride try again or stay apart in Chicago Fire season 7?
Before the One Chicago franchise returns to finish out its season, we’re looking at where the ships and characters stand—including Chicago Fire‘s Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).
The ballad of Severide and Stella has been a long one. They’ve been on, they’ve been off, they tried to be friends, they’ve been secretly (and not-so-secretly) jealous of each other’s love interests; it’s hard to think of something their relationship hasn’t been through.
Chicago Fire season 7 seemed like the season where they’d finally get to be together for good, but that’s not the case right now. After another personal tragedy, Stella dumped Severide and now it’s looking like there might be another man in her life. So should she move on or take another chance on Kelly—again?

Where they are now
This Chicago Fire season seemed like it would be the one where Stella and Severide’s romance had the chance to flourish. After the duo reignited their relationship during one of the two-hour events last season, they were in a full-on romance when season 7 started.
That gave One Chicago fans plenty of big couple moments, including the two of them making out at the firehouse, Severide worrying like crazy over Stella when she was hospitalized during the season’s first crossover, and Stella being there for Severide after the show killed off his father in an incredibly heartbreaking plot twist.
But the honeymoon period didn’t last long. After Benny’s death, Stella became jealous of Severide opening up to new arrival Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) instead of her. He got jealous of her friend Tyler (recurring guest star Tye White). And after Tyler hit on Stella, she dumped Severide for being an emotional rollercoaster.
The latest new episode saw a man that Stella had rescued in a fire want to take her out on a date, and Stella leave with him on a road trip. But the question for Chicago Fire fans is if that’s actually going to be a full-fledged subplot when the show returns, or if it was just something put into that one episode to make Severide jealous. Again.
