Chicago Med introduced a kidnapping and an FBI return in Tell Me The Truth. Find out what happened in our Chicago Med season 4, episode 18 recap.

The latest Chicago Med was completely different from anything One Chicago fans would normally see on the show—but at least it kept viewers guessing!

Wednesday’s installment, “Tell Me The Truth,” blindsided audiences when Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) got a phone call claiming that his ex-girlfriend Dr. Robin Charles (Mekia Cox) had been abducted and was being held for ransom. How would Connor and her father Daniel (Oliver Platt) be able to save her? Or was there something else going on?

And elsewhere, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) had another brush with the FBI, when an agent turned up in the Emergency Department. What didn’t he know about that story? And why was this hospital so mixed up in criminal activity?

Connor and Charles

It looked like Connor’s storyline in this Chicago Med episode was going to be crazy, and it certainly was. Did anyone have “alleged kidnapping” in the possible storyline pool?

While Charles started his day trying to reconnect with his family and failing miserably, Connor’s dad Cornelius Rhodes (recurring guest star D.W. Moffett) was in a board meeting where they were discussing making budget cuts around the hospital. To stop the bleeding, Gwen Garrett (Heather Headley) brought in a VIP patient for Connor to treat.

This didn’t go over well with Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) since she thought it should have been her case. Unsurprisingly, she found a way to get herself assigned to the surgery instead of Dr. Isidore Latham (who was again not seen), and also took another cheap shot at Connor when informing him her HIV scare was officially over.

All of that went by the wayside, though, when Connor received a phone call mid-surgery that had him rushing to get Charles’ attention. He wrote him instructions to call Robin; when the call went to voicemail, Connor wrote that Robin had been kidnapped and not to call the cops. But Charles wasted no time in calling Chicago PD. Uh, way to listen, Daniel!

While Gwen threatened to fire, sue and charge Connor, our hero had a meltdown upon hearing from the kidnapper that the cops had been called. Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) told him that the whole thing had been a scam; they’d spoken to Robin and she was fine. Connor was able to see her for hmself, before returning to work to face the music.

By which we mean, Gwen had changed her tune and was now falling all over Ava as the next big thing. At least Ava seemed sympathetic. But wait, could this be something else that she’d worked up? Chicago Med wouldn’t be that crazy, would it? At least the Charles family seemed to get a happy ending.
