An assassination attempt

After convincing Eric that they’d out him as a police snitch, the team got him and Eddie to meet in a local barbershop with Voight and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). The duo quickly agreed to divide up their territory, but just seconds later, somebody else shot up the barbershop. They also wounded an innocent victim in the process, but she died before the ambulance could arrive.

Eddie and Eric were still in the barbershop when Voight got back, each claiming they had nothing to do with the drive-by. In true Chicago PD fashion Voight threatened Eric with a razor to show how serious he was about getting the identity of the shooter. He also told Eddie to give him 48 hours to close the case so that he didn’t retaliate.

When Voight returned to his office, Kelton and Price were both there to argue with him and each other. Kelton was happy to throw Price under the bus, while Voight implied that Price going to see the dead woman’s family was a photo op – a charge that Price denied.

The next morning, Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) had traced the drive-by vehicle to one of Eric’s gang members, Isaiah Young. Isaiah claimed he was fleeing from the shooting and wasn’t actually in a gang to begin with. He did mention that he saw two women on the street, which revealed the victim’s sister had been with her when she was shot. So why did she lie about being there?

Upton confronted the woman, who admitted she was there but gave the usual crime drama spiel about how cops don’t understand and don’t do anything. Upton’s response was that she wasn’t helping either. That at least got Alyssa to come down to the district, though she wasn’t too keen on having to testify if the shooter was found. She did, however, give a description and mentioned that the man got off a bus – which proved it wasn’t Isaiah.

Chicago PD shifted gears again to Blair showing up in the lobby to take Burgess to lunch. That wasn’t all he was there for, though; he told her that he might be staying in Chicago, which didn’t seem to thrill her. She agreed to meet him for dinner instead before joining Antonio to look at piles of bus footage.

They were able to look over the kid’s shoulder and see his Instagram account, which enabled them to identify him and Alyssa to potentially do the same. If only Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) wasn’t trying to talk her out of it.
