Chicago PD’s latest season 6 promo dropped another huge spoiler. Find out which character is leaving the series and how they’re exiting.

The Chicago PD spoilers have struck again, as NBC‘s latest advertisement for the series gave away a huge plot twist that happens in the next episode.

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains a significant spoiler for Chicago PD season 6.

One Chicago fans who watched the promo that aired after “This City” got a shock, because the ad revealed that Kim Burgess’s (Marina Squerciati) new boyfriend Blair (recurring guest star Charles Michael Davis) is being killed off.

There’s no doubt about it—the teaser displays the text “Her lover was murdered” at about the five-second mark, and it clearly shows his body, as well. You can watch the promo for yourself by playing the video below:

The news isn’t entirely unexpected, as Charles Michael Davis has other roles (he’s currently also appearing on ABC‘s For The People), and Blair was talking about only having three weeks left in his current job in Wednesday’s episode. Any TV character who starts talking about how their work is almost done, or they’re retiring, or they’re close to a vacation is usually about to be shot or killed.

But this is more interesting because it’s creating a precedent. The latest spoiler drop comes after Chicago PD mentioned in the synopsis for last week’s “Pain Killer” that a mayoral candidate would be shot, and then gave away that it was Alderman Ray Price (Wendell Pierce) by clearly showing Price on the ground in promotional photos. The sneak peek for that episode was also titled “Ray Price and Voight Are in the Line of Fire.”

Not everyone watches the ads that air at the end of episodes, and even less look at the photos that come out each week, but as TV viewers get more and more savvy, it’s surprising that there’s not more effort to protect these twists. Even though the next episode will clearly be about looking into Blair’s death, imagine how shocking it would’ve been if Chicago PD viewers had no idea it was coming until they discovered him along with Burgess!

Instead, NBC is clearly approaching this by using the shock value to draw fans in, and then saying the real story isn’t the reveal—it’s what’s caused it. We’ll see if fans agree when this episode airs on Apr. 24.
