Watch SVU meet Game of Thrones on Saturday Night Live
Law and Order SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T launched their own Game of Thrones spinoff during Saturday Night Live; watch it here.
Game of Thrones is on everyone’s mind right now, and Law & Order: SVU has had plenty of buzz since being renewed for its landmark 21st season. On Saturday, NBC combined the two for a skit on Saturday Night Live.
As part of a sketch about potential Game of Thrones spinoffs, the late-night series enlisted SVU‘s Ice-T and Mariska Hargitay to reprise their characters of Odafin “Fin” Tutola and Olivia Benson in a bit entitled “Game of Thrones: Special Victims Unit.”
The segment, opened and closed with the traditional Law & Order franchise graphics, features Fin and Benson arriving at a medieval crime scene. Fin rattles off every terrible thing that’s happened to the victim—in true Game of Thrones fashion, it’s a lot—while Benson affirms that everything is right using a number of increasingly entertaining expressions. Don’t miss Hargitay spot-on making a Hollywood Squares reference.
At the end, the fake series is said to be executive produced by “Dire Wolf,” which is a themed play on the name of NBC uber-producer Dick Wolf.

This isn’t the first time that Saturday Night Live has mined one of Wolf’s properties for laughs; last year when Tina Fey hosted, the show did a sketch about a potential One Chicago spinoff.
But this one is a lot more entertaining, since the actual stars of the show they’re parodying are in the scene. Who’d have thought we’d see Olivia Benson dishing out some medieval justice?
You can watch the Saturday Night Live skit below (the Special Victims Unit part starts at the 2:00 mark). But even if you’re not a fan, the whole video is worth watching for the way it skewers more than one well-known TV series.
