One Chicago franchise reruns back on schedule for April 10
Fans of the One Chicago franchise will get another week off as NBC has Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD repeats planned Wednesday.
Things will be quiet in the One Chicago universe this week, because Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med are all being sent back into repeats.
The NBC primetime schedule confirms that there will not be new episodes airing on April 10. NBC is instead broadcasting three reruns from earlier in the season.
That’s probably distressing news to One Chicago viewers, because the programs have been in and out of old episodes a lot recently. Last week’s episodes were only the second new ones in the last five weeks; the shows were rerun twice and preempted once.
As is usual procedure, the network hasn’t made viewers aware of any specific reason for the shift back to showing installments they’ve already seen before. But it’s fairly standard in broadcast TV to insert reruns in order to stretch out the season, and these aren’t the only shows going through this.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit also had two reruns in its last five episodes, so the other Dick Wolf franchise is getting turned around as well. Over on CBS, the freshman drama FBI has also been mixing new episodes with repeats for several weeks.
While waiting for the next new episode, fans can curate their own Chicago Med, Chicago PD or Chicago Fire repeats by streaming current seasons on Hulu for free (though not every episode of Chicago Fire may be available). Or just take this Wednesday off and come back rested up for the return of your favorite shows!
