Chicago PD season 6, episode 20 recap: Sacrifice
Feeling the pressure
Ruzek found out that had been Upton’s decision, and when he confronted her about ruining his chances, she told him to “move on” and that “it had nothing to do with us.” Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), watching the whole thing from the desk, didn’t look so sure. And Ruzek had no luck restarting the deal, so Intelligence was back to square one.
They located a house where the Night Lords seemed to do a lot of their business, and that’s where they saw one of their members seemingly completing a sale. While Kevin Atwater and Kim Burgess (LaRoyce Hawkins and Marina Squerciati) chased down the seller—only for him to get shocked to death on the train tracks—Upton collared the buyer Gina, who’d been picking up…medication for her liver disease!
With Antonio having given Upton that new information, she changed her tune and was more sympathetic. She asked Gina to tell her what she knew about this group selling expensive medication that ill people couldn’t afford. Even confronted with the grisly photos from the robbery at the start of the episode, Gina wasn’t willing to roll on the people who were keeping her alive.
Burgess looked into Gina’s husband Robert and found out that he was related to the drug dealer they were targeting. Not only that, but his measurements were a match for one of the robbers who’d nearly shot Upton and Ruzek! Voight ordered his team to surveil Robert, who was sending his daughter off to school before driving to work at…Venture Shipping! Yes, the same company whose vans had all been robbed.
Chicago PD was quickly tying up loose ends, but still had to actually build a legally solid case. So Upton circled back to Gina, who she released before tapping into her phone. She got a call from Robert, who said he was working on “something big,” and not long afterward another robbery call came – this one from an actual pharmacy.

Upton and Ruzek stormed the scene, finding Robert trying to help the pharmacist his cousin shot during the robbery. Unfortunately for him, the other man was quite clearly dead. Ruzek tried to use this to pressure Robert, who wanted a lawyer, so Upton leaned on Gina with the idea of her husband being held responsible for murder. She wanted her to wear a wire and incriminate Robert’s cousin.
But what about Gina’s medicine? Well, Chicago PD wasn’t quite so concerned about that, with Upton telling her that her pills were evidence from the robbery. At least she’d help Robert out, right? Right?!
