Chicago Fire season 7, episode 21 synopsis and promo: The White Whale
What’s happening in this week’s Chicago Fire episode? Find out about The White Whale with the Chicago Fire season 7, episode 21 synopsis and teaser.
The next Chicago Fire picks up exactly where the last episode left off, according to NBC‘s official description of this week’s episode and the promo that they’ve released for it.
Wednesday’s installment is called “The White Whale,” which sounds an awful lot like a Moby Dick reference. And that would be appropriate since the main storyline concerns Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) chasing after the serial arsonist that his father never caught. Will he be able to find them and close a case that haunted Benny Severide for over a decade? That would be bittersweet after the show already killed Benny off earlier this season.
The other subplot concerns someone’s retirement, but whose? There’s no hint that any of the main characters are leaving, but a couple of them have talked about retirement and getting older over the last few seasons. Or it could be someone random from the series’ canon—remember how the chaplain retired earlier this season?
So that will be equally worth watching, just to see if it’s someone that Chicago Fire fans care about or more of another comedic subplot. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the show pulled a fast one and had another character bowing out ahead of the season finale.
Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"A serial arsonist cold case is reopened when Lt. Severide finds a connection to a recent salon fire. Firehouse 51 celebrates a retirement party."
