Chicago PD took Antonio Dawson on a very difficult journey in Confession. Find out what happened in our Chicago PD season 6, episode 21 recap.

This week’s Chicago PD was one last feature episode for Antonio Dawson, and it also began to spell out how Jon Seda‘s character is going to be written off the series.

Wednesday’s episode “Confession” dealt with the murder of a 17-year-old that happened to connect to a drug supplier with serious ties to the Mexican cartels, and who had killed one of Antonio’s confidential informants almost a decade earlier. Would our hero be able to get justice this time?

Meanwhile, Antonio found out that the events from the midseason finale were coming under scrutiny again, which put his badge—and potentially his freedom—on the line. An attempt to make it all go away backfired in spectacular fashion.

Attempted drug deal gone wrong

“Confession” opened with Antonio at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, only to get a text from Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) insisting on a meeting at the now-infamous Silos where so many things in Chicago PD history have happened.

Ruzek to Antonio and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) that he was being questioned again about covering up Antonio pushing the drug dealer out the window at the end of “Descent.” Voight pointed out that the only way that case would be opened up again was by direct order of Superintendent Brian Kelton (recurring guest star John C. McGinley). Gee, we wonder why?

But Chicago PD interrupted them to start the case of the week, with Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) undercover making a drug deal while Ruzek and Antonio looked on. But just moments later, gunshots rang out around the corner and the dealer had been shot getting into his car. While on the phone with his mom, no less.

17-year-old Hugo promptly died, and after the obligatory scene explaining his backstory, Intelligence collared the area’s local shot-caller Derrick Winslow. Winslow claimed he saw a black van leaving the area after the shooting but of course, it wasn’t one of his people.

Meanwhile, Hugo’s mom told Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) that his son was not involved with drugs, but Antonio saw a kilo of heroin in his bedroom closet. And Voight asked for a favor from Trudy Platt (Amy Morton): could she use her father’s contacts to get him in front of “someone who doesn’t answer to anybody”?
