2. Manstead’s car accident

Chicago Med certainly got fans freaked out when the season finale ended with Natalie bloodied and unconscious after Dr. Will Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) car was struck from the side by one of Ray Burke’s sons, bent on getting revenge against Will.

If the writers wanted to have the One Chicago fandom scared enough to tune in next season and see if Natalie survives, they’ve accomplished that. But the logistics of how and when it happened made this latest cliffhanger a bit of a head-scratcher, too.

First of all, it’s an odd choice to go with a Natalie-centric cliffhanger. Chicago Med had so many other storylines with plenty of drama that could have made for a great ending, but instead of what it already had, it decided to add something else on instead.

Plus, canonly Natalie has had plenty of these situations already this season. Fans were already made to fear for her survival once (in that helicopter crash). And she was also the focus of the midseason finale cliffhanger, too, when Will had to leave her at the altar.

Doesn’t she deserve a break, and don’t One Chicago viewers deserve something different, too? While Manstead is the core of the show, you never want to give one character or pairing all of the biggest moments. If there had to be another cliffhanger, it didn’t have to be one with the same characters who were in the last one.

And speaking of deja vu, this ending felt a bit familiar. At a hospital which also almost killed Choi this season, and shot Dr. Charles for a finale cliffhanger two seasons ago, Chicago Med has to be careful not to go to the “doctor in life-threatening peril” well too often.
